That seems way too high and tight to me. Dec 12, 2020 · I have a Leopold scope mount for an ar that calls for 28" pounds for the ring screws. I usually do around 20 in lbs, have for many years and have Nov 2, 2021 · We recently obtained some ring and base screw specs from Leupold: base screws 14 in/lbs, ring screws, 15-17 in/lbs, and 45 in/lbs on the windage screw, 65 in/lbs on the cross bolt for the Mk IV ring. Very poor rings frequently have sharp edges where they contact your scope tube, amplifying the damage caused by over-torqued rings. Need to torque your scope rings to 16 in-lbs? Your action screws to 65 in-lbs? When the scope is aligned with the rifle, tighten the ring screws with the Torx driver to 28 in-lbs max. It's tough to know what to torque the bases at and the rings at. Usually 25 -30 inch pounds of torque on the base screws are good, with about 18 inch pounds on the rings.
